Our first league of the season is this Sunday, Sep. 14th, over Block 1 (1 Sam. 16-19)! We meet from 1:15-5:00pm at Southeast Blankenbaker campus starting in room ATCR 206 (2nd floor to the right of the chapel – go in main entrance and it’s right up the stairs there as soon as you enter). Following are the details.

Written Test

The test must be completed online in advance by midnight Thursday. Here is the link (if you’ve already registered your student, you also received one from National Bible Bowl). It will ask for your name, group (enter either SE Louisville or SE Crestwood), and league (Kentucky – Southeast). The test is closed book, 100 questions, and you have 20 minutes to take it in one sitting.

Anyone who receives Gold Tier (90 or above) on the test will receive a large candy. The top 10 will be recognized during the awards at the end. The test winner will receive a coupon for free food at Culver’s.

Competition

We compete in classrooms in the ED wing of the 2nd floor after the opening meeting – game rounds begin at 1:45pm. Division 1 will play 5 regular rounds plus an Individual Tournament just for fun (this is an “every man for himself” style game where students try to be the first to get to 50 points in their room and then advance forward, until we have one winner. We’ll teach the kids how to play on the spot!). Division 2 will play 7 regular rounds. Awards for the day will immediately follow back in room ATCR 206.

Family and friends are welcome to attend and encourage our players! If you are a parent following along, I encourage you to download the score keeping app so you can learn to follow along through that. In your app store, search for “Bible Quizzer” and it’s the one made by Bible Quiz Shop. Within the app, click “purchase” (although it’s free!) and scroll to the bottom to “FREE 2023 Bible Bowl Score-Pro Scorekeeping Module”. Ignore that it says 2023, that is the correct one. 🙂

Quote Bee

Immediately following the rounds is an optional Quote Bee held in the same room as your last game for students to test their knowledge of Memory Verses. Make it past 2 rounds with prompts (the verse reference plus the clue) and 2 rounds without prompts (verse reference only) to achieve Gold Tier.

Gold Tier winners are also invited to compete in a final Quote Bee back in the main room before awards start to determine a winner. We’ll start with a few Memory Verses by reference only, and if anyone is still standing, we’ll jump to ANY verse by reference.

All Gold Tier winners will receive a large candy. The final Quote Bee winner will receive a coupon for free food at Culver’s.

Closing Notes:

Be sure to let your coach know ASAP if your student won’t be attending so we can make any team adjustments as needed. Casual clothes are fine for this competition. Reach out with any additional questions! Thank you!
